Galvanized Steel VS Steel Trailer . WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

Customers often want to know which is better, galvanized or steel? Which is more expensive? Which holds up better against the elements? The simple fact is that neither kind of steel is always the better choice in every situation. Here are some of the basics about galvanized and steel you can use to make optimal selections.

Galvanized

Galvanized Steel is coated with a thin layer of zinc. The zinc coating protects the steel beneath it from rust. It’s used to make nuts, bolts, screws, and nails resistant to degradation when they are exposed to the weather. Galvanized steel stands up to water well — as long as it’s not salt water. Welders who work with structural steel can work with galvanized steel, although they will need protection against breathing the fumes.

STEEL

Steel has traditionally been the go-to material choice for trailer construction. It is a tough metal that can handle the heavy loads that users may plan on loading into their trailers. These are a few of the reasons to choose a steel trailer:

Advantages: it is heavy, it gets the job done! Because it holds more weight, it can handle more weight. It has less elasticity and is able to handle carrying more weight. It is also able to handle driving on rougher roads. If you know that you are going to be taking your trailer on uneven terrain, steel may be the best selection for you.

Here are some of the reason we have decided to make Galvanized Trailers and NOT Mild Steel:

-Rust and corrosion (especially in winter months)

-No painting required

-Resale value is more than aluminum

- A galvanized trailer will maintain its resale value

- Pressure washing will not damage the galvanized trailer

- Galvanized trailers are scratch resistant to stones, chains, cargo and machinery

- Galvanized steel offers maintenance-free corrosion protection for nearly 50 years

- The service life of a galvanized trailer will be at least 25 years

-Durable and resistant to rust and corrosion
